Tamara Al Samerraei

Born in Kuwait and living in Beirut, Tamara Alsamerraei draws on visual materials, such as photos and film stills, of familiar scenes, objects and figures in her work, paring them down to their bare essence. Alsamerraei gained a BA in Fine Arts from the Lebanese American University in Beirut in 2002 and completed the inaugural year of the Home Workspace Program at Ashkal Alwan (2011-2012), Beirut. She has participated in several group exhibitions in Beirut, Sharjah, Paris and Kuwait, and also held solo shows, namely: Let Me Stay a Little Longer, Marfa, Beirut; Make Room For Me, Gypsum Gallery, Cairo; and Fleeting Fences and Something White, Agial Art Gallery, Beirut.
